Contxto – Great news for the students of Platzi’s Demo Day. The Colombian edtech will reward the winning startup with a trip to “Entrepreneur Disneyland”, Silicon Valley.
It doesn’t matter if you want to apply in Spanish, English or Portuguese. As long as you have a minimum viable product (MVP) and, of course, are a Platzi student, you can apply until June 14 on Platzi’s webpage here.
“Platzi wants to help other startups succeed and accompany them on their way. For five years this event has brought together the best startups in Latin America and it does not want 2020 to be the exception” said Diego Miramontes, country manager for Platzi.
Selected entrepreneurs will have two minutes to present their pitch deck though Platzi’s live channel. These pitches will be observed by investors, experts, and the Platzi community.
The finalist startups will run through a four stage selection process. After all that, the winner will be selected until October 2020.
After being victorious, the winner will earn a trip, expenses covered, to come face to face with the tech environment of Silicon Valley. They will be able to connect with industry leaders, accelerate their business and, most importantly, prove that Latam has the talent to solve the global problems of today.
Platzi participated in the 2015 winter batch of Y Commbinator. It only makes sense that the award of their demo day is to travel to the land where they set off at the beginning of their journey.
An activation strategy might be quite obvious when you realize one of the few requisites of applying to the Platzi Demo Day is being a student on Platzi’s online educational platform. However, this shouldn’t be a detractor when it comes to boosting the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Plus, Platzi’s motto is Never Stop Learning, and if a Platzi account is necessary in order to grow your business at a Silicon Valley level, I don’t see why having Platzi’s stock of knowledge resources available should be a setback.
I mean, if Platzi was in the oil business and the requisite was for you to buy a couple of barrels, now that would be a whole other story.
